Pick & Choose

I recently had a conversation with a friend who is struggling with an uncommon storage problem: firewood. Depending on where you live, of course, open fires and pot belly stoves might be very common but they’re certainly not here in mild Adelaide so I can’t say I’d ever thought about it.

I’ve seen some great examples of using built-in niches for wood storage, but if  – like my friend – that’s not an option, try one of these options on for size.

Pick & Choose - firewood storage

1. Haven Vintage on Etsy | 2&3. AK47 | 4. Peters of Kensington | 5. Ikea | 6. Freedom | 7. AK47 | 8. Ikea

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that you don’t need to search for something specifically designed for firewood. Look out for any kind of large, sturdy box, trunk, bin or crate.

(Hope that helped, Jo! x)

Thank you!! After examining all the pictures carefully and the corresponding source, it turns out all my favourites were by AK47. Better check out their website!

    • No prob, Jo! I also found a great rustic green tub at an antique shop on Magill Road that was pretty cool. Good luck missy.

  • We keep our firewood in our wood shed (duh!) but for inside I keep a little for the evening in a wooden basket (shaped just like a basket but made out of a rough wood and with a wood ‘handle’) I would like to store neatly cut logs in our fireplace during summer like I so often see but I just think it would create a whole lot of spiders and dust in my living room.

    • Sounds cute, Emma :)

  • Our house SHOULD be primarily heated by wood since our propane is so expensive but we’re bad at making sure we HAVE wood. Next winter we plan on using mainly wood to keep our house warm so this is a wonderful post. I’d love to have a place to keep my wood stylish since our wood stove is right in the middle of everything, and off the ground for crawling babes. I like the chair idea but something more like #2 or 3 would work best for us. I have dreams of building a woodshed right up against our house with a cubby door on the inside so we don’t even have to go outside to get more wood but that’s many a huge project down the road.

    Great post!

    • I’m glad you found it useful, Erin. The cubby sounds ingenious!
