peacock costume

I spent New Year’s Eve with Darth Vader, Aphrodite, Lara Croft, Pocahontas and some other pals at a party hosted by Marilyn Monroe and Ron Burgundy.

Yep, our friends put on an awesome costume party to ring in the new year!

I found this great dress at ModCloth and decided that a peacock I shall be!

At the time I hadn’t considered it for blog fodder, so I didn’t take any tutorial photos of the headpiece, sorry.

It was very easy, though. I just took a couple of readymade feather sprays (picked up at Spotlight by my wonderful mother-in-law) and stitched them together using clear nylon thread, then stitched them both to a metal hair comb. I topped it off by sewing on the little blue plume.

It’s hard to tell in the photos, but I did some pretty full-on eye makeup with shaded crazy-bright green, blue, turquoise and purple.

I hope you had as fun a new years as we did!

Thanks to Darth Vader The Man for taking the photos.
