Holey Tree - Christmas tree

Holey Tree by Lilly & Lolly

Since we’ll be away for Christmas, there will be no decorating here this year, which is a bit sad really. Instead, I’ve gone window-shopping and found the coolest Christmas trees for you!

Head over to the full round-up over on Houzz.

Did you have a good Christmas? Mine was very relaxing, with plenty of chilling with family and friends plus of course loads of food and drink.

I was extremely lucky and got an iPad for Christmas, which sounds very extravagant I know, but it was from the entire family. I’m taking all of this week off plus most of next week too (I will have to do some blogging and admin work though). I’m planning to do a whole lot of relaxing (like the girl in the photo), playing with my new toy and a bunch of projects around the house, as well as more socialising.

Did Santa treat you well this year?

I finished my Christmas shopping weeks ago, but I have to admit I haven’t even thought about wrapping yet and it’s less than a week away, aaah! Perhaps these cute free gift tags will inspire me to finally get onto it.

There are so many beautiful and creative wreaths out there these days, either made by a crafty pro for you to buy or tutorials for you to make yourself. But as much as I love them, after a while it becomes a sea of twigs, wool and felt. Which is why I stopped in my tracks when I came across this truly unique idea (albeit featuring an ugly ribbon).

To be honest I’ve never given a second thought to Christmas stockings, but these unique stockings made from sewing patterns are enough to make me wish I had a mantlepiece.

On the other hand (foot?) if Santa has long since forgotten about you and you don’t actually need stockings anymore, how about getting a bit more abstract awesome and opt for vintage wooden sock lasts?

Both from Country Living.

Fete magazine

I wasn’t alone in my sorrow of the recent demise of Wedding Style Guide as we knew it, so I was thrilled to hear its editor Annabelle Kerslake and creative director Jane Cameron have teamed up again, this time to create Fête.

Fete magazine 2

The bi-monthly entertaining e-magazine, featuring local and international contributors, is simply beautiful. It will knock your socks off but in an understated I-can-do-that kind of way.

See the special launch issue for yourself.

If you have limited space at home – or are just after a really unique Christmas tree – have you thought about a flat tree?

White frame before

This framed art came free with my issue of Real Living a couple of months ago, but I was immediately told in no uncertain terms that such a girly item would never see the light of day in our home. I figured the frame and the print would pass The Man’s test if used invidually but it was the combination of both that was unacceptable.

White frame after

I removed the sweet print and gave the wooden backing a few coats of blackboard paint that I already had on hand. Now I have a cute mini message board that cost me a grand total of zero dollars.

Does anyone else have to pass the man test when bringing home new decor?
