frame as tray
100 Layer Cake

There are loads of ways to reuse an old frame, but this has to be my favourite. It’s so versatile: use your new tray on your dresser for jewellery or perfume, in the bathroom for your lotions or in living areas for decorative displays.

I’ve actually been on the hunt for a tray for my own home and am not having much luck, perhaps I should keep my eyes open for frames instead.

Hope you all have a lovely evening tonight, I’m off to celebrate The Man’s birthday.

There are so many beautiful and creative wreaths out there these days, either made by a crafty pro for you to buy or tutorials for you to make yourself. But as much as I love them, after a while it becomes a sea of twigs, wool and felt. Which is why I stopped in my tracks when I came across this truly unique idea (albeit featuring an ugly ribbon).

I’ve already covered how you can turn old doors into headboards and wedding decorations, now let’s look at some ideas for all around the home.

Apart from headboards, another creative reuse for old door that I kept coming across was wedding decor.

I was intending to do a post on doors upcycled for various uses… until I found like a hundred great examples just for headboards so I figured it deserved its own post.

I’ll tell ya what, if my bed didn’t already have a headboard I’d be scouring the roadside for an old door straight away.

Who doesn’t love that warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing you’re reducing waste by reusing materials? One of the most versatile items to upcycle into furniture, it seems, is the humble wooden pallet.

Once the present-opening frenzy has died down, you’re left with a huge pile of wrapping paper and cards. Ease the environmental guilt and get ahead for next year with these ideas for repurposing the Christmas leftovers (and no, I’m not talking turkey).

Today’s project is not a full-blown Before & After, but I wanted to share what a quick tidy up can do to give a neglected piece of furniture a new lease of life. This was another side of the road find that had potential as a temporary storage solution while we saved up for a proper wall unit.

All that was required was to knock out the back to lighten it up and show off the funky step shape, give it a good clean and switch the plain timber drawer pulls for some more elegant metal ones. It cost less than $5 and has served us well for two years.
